CORK CITY (IRELAND)

The city of Cork is the administrative capital of the Southwestern region of Ireland, and the most populated nucleus in the historical province of Munster, actually, with its 119,000 inhabitants Cork is the second largest city of the Republic of Ireland. Cork was founded by a monastic order supported by Saint Finbarr in the 6th Century, and it has been attacked, sacked, destroyed and re-built by the Vikings along the 9th and 10th centuries, finally Norsemen constructed a port on the area and Cork became a city. Saint Finbarr Cathedral and the seaside houses at the port are the most interesting places to visit in Cork. HOMEWORK Study the administrative geography of Ireland
